Itinerary (day wise)
Rajasthan's three great cities in six nights, joined by two long but easy drives. Jaipur's forts and bazaars come first, then Mehrangarh and the blue lanes of Jodhpur, and Udaipur's lakes at the end. The Jodhpur–Udaipur drive is timed so you reach the Ranakpur Jain temple when it opens to visitors. It suits families and parents who want depth without rushing.
Day 1Arrive Jaipur (2 Nights)
About 13 km from the airport · 30–40 minutes
Your driver meets you at Jaipur airport arrivals and takes you to your hotel in a private car. Check in, have lunch and rest until the heat drops. Around 5 pm you drive into the walled Pink City to see Hawa Mahal in the golden light, best viewed from a rooftop café across the road. Then walk the old arcades: Johari Bazaar for jewellery, Bapu Bazaar for juttis and block prints, and the spice and bangle shops of Tripolia. Back to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Jaipur.
- Hawa Mahal
- Johari Bazaar
- Bapu Bazaar
- Tripolia Bazaar

Prafull’s tipWear comfortable shoes. The bazaars run under long arcades and you will walk more than you expect.
Dinner
Day 2Jaipur
You leave around 7.30 am to reach Amber Fort at its 8 am opening. A government-approved guide takes you through Ganesh Pol, the Diwan-e-Aam and the Sheesh Mahal before the crowds arrive, with a photo stop at Jal Mahal on the way down. After lunch, the City Palace, still partly the royal family's home, and Jantar Mantar alongside, the UNESCO-listed observatory whose giant sundial still keeps time. The evening is at leisure; Nahargarh Fort's ramparts are the place for a sunset over the city if you want one more view. Overnight in Jaipur.
- Amber Fort
- Sheesh Mahal
- Jal Mahal
- City Palace
- Jantar Mantar
- Nahargarh Fort

- Note: Jaipur's composite ticket covers Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall and Nahargarh. The City Palace has its own ticket.
- Note: A jeep can take you up the ramp to Amber's main gate, paid locally.
Prafull’s tipBuy the composite ticket at Amber in the morning; it is valid for two days and saves queuing at each monument.
Breakfast & Dinner
Day 3Jaipur – Jodhpur (2 Nights)
About 340 km · 5.5–6 hours by road
After breakfast you head west across the Marwar plains in your private car. The land flattens, the soil turns sandy, and you start to see camel carts, khejri trees and women in bright odhnis at the roadside. A lunch stop on the highway breaks the drive. You arrive in Jodhpur by mid-afternoon and check in, with Mehrangarh rising straight out of the rock above the city. In the evening, walk to Toorji ka Jhalra, the restored 18th-century stepwell near the old city, which is at its best at dusk. Overnight in Jodhpur.
- Marwar countryside
- Mehrangarh Fort (first view)
- Toorji ka Jhalra
Prafull’s tipAsk for a room or rooftop table facing the fort. Mehrangarh is floodlit after dark.
Breakfast & Dinner
Day 4Jodhpur
Mehrangarh Fort with your guide when it opens at 9 am. A lift saves the climb from the car park, and inside, the museum rooms hold palanquins, howdahs, armour and painted ceilings, while the ramparts look down on the blue houses of Brahmpuri. Next, Jaswant Thada, the white marble cenotaph a short drive away, then lunch and a rest at the hotel. Late afternoon you walk down through the blue lanes to the Clock Tower and Sardar Market for spices, bandhani and the city's famous mirchi vadas. Overnight in Jodhpur.
- Mehrangarh Fort
- Jaswant Thada
- Brahmpuri blue lanes
- Clock Tower
- Sardar Market
- Note: The lift at Mehrangarh carries a small separate fee.
- Note: Optional: the zip-line course over the fort walls, run inside Mehrangarh; book a day ahead.
Prafull’s tipTake Mehrangarh's audio guide even if you have a guide; it is one of the best in India. Try a makhaniya lassi near the Clock Tower.
Breakfast & Dinner
Day 5Jodhpur – Ranakpur – Udaipur (2 Nights)
About 260 km · 6 hours, plus time at the temple
You leave around 8.30 am for the drive south to Ranakpur, timed to reach the temple when it opens to visitors at midday. The 15th-century Chaumukha Jain temple is carved from pale marble, with more than 1,400 pillars and no two alike; spend an hour inside, then have a simple vegetarian lunch nearby. The last stretch climbs gently through the forested Aravallis, past small villages and the Mewar countryside, and you reach Udaipur in the early evening. Check in and have dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Udaipur.
- Ranakpur Jain Temple
- Aravalli hills
- Mewar countryside

- Note: Ranakpur opens to non-Jain visitors from about 12 noon to 5 pm. Leather items such as belts and wallets stay in the car, and shorts are not allowed.
- Note: There is a small fee for mobile phones and cameras inside the temple.
Prafull’s tipKeep a pair of socks in your bag. The temple floor is marble and gets hot by early afternoon.
Breakfast & Dinner
Day 6Udaipur
The City Palace with a local guide from its 9 am opening: courtyards, mirrored rooms and balconies built over four centuries by the Mewar rulers, with views straight down to the water. Walk on to Jagdish Temple, a carved 17th-century Vishnu temple still in daily worship, and through the old lanes to Gangaur Ghat. After lunch and a rest, you take a boat on Lake Pichola in the late afternoon, past Jag Mandir and the Lake Palace, as the city turns gold and then pink. Overnight in Udaipur.
- City Palace
- Jagdish Temple
- Gangaur Ghat
- Lake Pichola
- Jag Mandir

- Note: Optional: the Dharohar folk dance show at Bagore-ki-Haveli, around 7 pm, approx. ₹150–300 per person, paid at the door.
- Note: Optional: Saheliyon-ki-Bari gardens and Fateh Sagar Lake, about 20 minutes by car, if you have time in the morning.
Prafull’s tipBook the boat for the last slot before sunset. The light on the palace walls is at its best in that half-hour.
Breakfast & Dinner
Day 7Udaipur – Departure
About 22 km to the airport · 40–45 minutes
Breakfast at leisure. If your flight is later in the day, there is time for Saheliyon-ki-Bari, the 'garden of the maidens', with its fountains and lotus pools, or a last look around the shops near Jagdish Temple for miniature paintings, silver and textiles. Check-out is usually at noon, and we can request a late check-out from the hotel. Your driver collects you with plenty of time and drops you at Maharana Pratap Airport in Dabok for your flight home. Your holiday ends here.
- Saheliyon-ki-Bari
Prafull’s tipUdaipur airport is small and security is quick, but the road out of the old city is slow at school times. Leave a little early.
