When to go
Best time to visit Croatia
May to September. May, June and September are warm, with the sea good for swimming and fewer crowds than July and August. April and October are mild and quiet; many island boats stop from November to March.
Our favourite months
Prafull's notes
- Dubrovnik's old town is all stone steps and polished paving; bring comfortable shoes.
- Boat trips to the Blue Cave and the islands run only in good weather; we keep a spare day where we can.
- City and tourist taxes are paid at each hotel in euros.
- Open-jaw flights, into Zagreb and out of Dubrovnik, save a long drive back.
Good to know
Croatia questions
How many days do you need for Croatia?
Six or seven nights covers Zagreb, Plitvice, Split and Dubrovnik. With eight or nine you can add Zadar, a night on Hvar or a day in Montenegro.
Do Indians need a visa for Croatia?
Yes. Croatia is in the Schengen area, so you need a Schengen visa. For a day trip into Bosnia or Montenegro, ask for a multiple-entry visa.
Are the prices in rupees?
Our Croatia prices are in euros per person and are payable in rupees at the day's exchange rate; GST (5%) and TCS are added.
Are flights included?
No. Prices are land only; we quote flights from Mumbai separately, usually into Zagreb and out of Dubrovnik.
Group tours or private?
Our coast-to-coast trips use private airport transfers with group walking tours and day trips, which keeps the price down. The private tours have your own car and guides throughout.
