When to go

Best time to visit Nepal

October to November, and March to May. Clear skies and the best mountain views come after the monsoon, in October and November; spring brings warm days and rhododendrons. December to February is cold but often clear, and the monsoon, June to September, brings rain and cloud.

Our favourite months

Prafull's notes

  • Indians need a passport (valid 6 months) or voter ID to fly to Nepal. Aadhaar, PAN and driving licence are not accepted.
  • Indian ₹500 and ₹200 notes are not accepted in Nepal. Carry ₹100 notes and smaller, up to ₹25,000 per person.
  • Mountain views are best early in the morning; clouds often build by midday.
  • Pokhara to Jomsom is a long, rough jeep road, and hotels in Jomsom and Ghandruk are simple.

Good to know

Nepal questions

Do Indians need a visa for Nepal?

No. Indians can travel to Nepal with a passport valid for six months or a voter ID card. Aadhaar, PAN and driving licence are not accepted for air travel. Children can use a school ID with a bonafide certificate.

How many days do you need for Nepal?

Three or four nights covers Kathmandu and the valley. Five nights adds Pokhara, and six or seven adds Chitwan National Park, or Muktinath by road.

How do we get to Nepal from Mumbai?

Fly to Kathmandu, direct or via Delhi. Our packages start and end at Kathmandu airport; we can book the flights too.

Is GST included in the price?

No. Our Nepal prices are per person on twin sharing; GST (5%) and TCS are added as per Government of India rules.

Which hotels are included?

Most packages come in six hotel levels, from good 3-star hotels to 5-star Deluxe (Yak and Yeti, Royal Tulip) and 5-star Luxury (Marriott Kathmandu, Fishtail Lodge or Temple Tree in Pokhara). Each package page lists the hotels in every town.

Can we visit Muktinath by road?

Yes. Two of our packages drive from Pokhara to Jomsom by jeep (6 to 8 hours on a rough road), with an early drive to Muktinath the next morning. Hotels in Jomsom are basic, and nights are cold.
