Itinerary (day wise)
Paris first, then the Swiss Alps: three nights for the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Seine, a fast train to Lucerne, and four nights in Switzerland with Mount Titlis and the Jungfraujoch. You start in the city and end in the mountains, flying home from Zurich, so the trip winds down rather than speeds up. It suits couples, honeymooners and families who want one great city and the best of Switzerland in a week.
Day 1Arrive in Paris (3 Nights)
About 30 km · 1 hour by road
Your driver meets you at Charles de Gaulle arrivals and drives you into the city to your hotel; check-in is usually from 3 pm, so you may have time for a coffee nearby first. In the evening you take a one-hour cruise on the Seine on a shared boat, gliding past Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay and the gilded bridges as the lights come on. If you're out after dark, watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle for five minutes at the start of every hour. Overnight in Paris.
- Seine river cruise
- Notre-Dame from the river
- Musée d'Orsay from the river
- Eiffel Tower sparkle
- Note: Hotel rooms in central Paris are compact; we choose hotels with lifts and ask for quieter rooms.
Prafull’s tipTake the cruise after sunset in summer, around 10 pm; in June it doesn't get dark much earlier.
No meals included today
Day 2Paris
A private half-day orientation tour with a driver-guide: the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde, the Opéra Garnier and the golden dome of Les Invalides, ending at the Eiffel Tower, where you go up to the second floor on a timed ticket. After lunch you spend the afternoon in the Louvre, entering through the glass pyramid on a timed ticket, for the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory. Finish with a stroll through the Tuileries Garden. Overnight in Paris.
- Arc de Triomphe
- Champs-Élysées
- Place de la Concorde
- Eiffel Tower
- The Louvre
- Tuileries Garden
- Note: The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays; we plan your Paris days around it.
- Note: Optional: the Eiffel Tower summit, added to your ticket when available, approx. €10–15 extra per adult.
Prafull’s tipAt the Louvre, see the Mona Lisa first and then wander; the room is far quieter in the first hour.
Breakfast
Day 3Paris at Leisure
A free day to choose your Paris. The Palace of Versailles, about 40 minutes away, has the Hall of Mirrors and acres of formal gardens. Montmartre's hill, with the white Sacré-Cœur basilica and the painters of Place du Tertre, makes a lovely half-day. Families often spend the day at Disneyland Paris, about 45 minutes by train or car. Or simply walk the Marais, visit Notre-Dame, which reopened in December 2024, and shop at Galeries Lafayette. We book tickets and transfers for whatever you pick. Overnight in Paris.
- Palace of Versailles
- Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur
- Disneyland Paris
- Notre-Dame Cathedral
- Galeries Lafayette
- Note: The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays.
- Note: Disneyland Paris tickets are dated and vary by season, roughly €60–110 per person for one park.
Prafull’s tipPack tonight; tomorrow's train leaves in the morning and Paris traffic is slow.
Breakfast
Day 4Paris – Lucerne (2 Nights)
About 600 km · 4–4.5 hours by fast train via Basel
Your driver takes you to the Gare de Lyon for the TGV Lyria to Basel, a smooth three hours through the French countryside. At Basel you change to a Swiss train for the last hour to Lucerne, where your Swiss Travel Pass begins. After checking in, you walk across the wooden Chapel Bridge, with its painted gable panels and stone Water Tower, into the old town's squares of painted houses, and up to the Lion Monument carved into the rock. The evening is free by the lake. Overnight in Lucerne.
- TGV Lyria to Basel
- Chapel Bridge and Water Tower
- Lucerne old town
- Lion Monument

- Note: Large suitcases go on racks at the end of each TGV carriage; keep valuables with you.
Prafull’s tipBuy a sandwich and fruit at the Gare de Lyon before boarding; the TGV café car has few vegetarian choices.
Breakfast
Day 5Lucerne: Mount Titlis
About 35 km to Engelberg · 45 minutes by train, then cable cars
A morning train runs along the lake and up the valley to Engelberg. From there a gondola lifts you to Trübsee, then a cable car to Stand, and finally the Rotair, a cable car whose floor turns a full circle as it climbs to the glacier at about 3,020 metres. At the top you walk through the blue-lit glacier cave, step onto the Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge, and in summer ride the Ice Flyer chairlift over the crevasses. Back in Lucerne by late afternoon, an evening boat on the lake is covered by your pass. Overnight in Lucerne.
- Engelberg
- Rotair revolving cable car
- Glacier cave
- Titlis Cliff Walk
- Lake Lucerne boat cruise
- Note: There's snow at the top all year; wear warm layers, sunglasses and shoes with grip.
- Note: Mountain lifts close for a few weeks of maintenance, usually in spring and November; we check your dates.
Prafull’s tipTake an early train; clouds often build over Titlis by early afternoon.
Breakfast
Day 6Lucerne – Interlaken (2 Nights)
About 75 km · 2 hours by train (Luzern–Interlaken Express)
A free morning for Lucerne's shops or a last walk by the lake, then you board the Luzern–Interlaken Express, part of the GoldenPass route. The panoramic train climbs over the Brünig Pass, past the green waters of Lake Lungern, and runs down beside Lake Brienz to Interlaken Ost. After check-in you walk along the Höheweg, where paragliders land on the Höhematte meadow with the Jungfrau in view. In the evening, the short funicular up Harder Kulm gives a fine sunset view over both lakes. Overnight in Interlaken.
- Luzern–Interlaken Express
- Brünig Pass
- Lake Brienz
- Höheweg and Höhematte
- Harder Kulm

- Note: Optional: the Harder Kulm funicular, discounted with the Swiss Travel Pass and paid locally.
Prafull’s tipWith big suitcases, use the Swiss railways' station-to-station luggage service; your bags arrive at Interlaken while you travel light.
Breakfast
Day 7Interlaken: Jungfraujoch
About 2 hours each way by train and the Eiger Express gondola
Your big mountain day. A train takes you to Grindelwald Terminal, where the Eiger Express gondola lifts you below the Eiger's north face to Eigergletscher. From there the Jungfrau Railway tunnels through the rock to Jungfraujoch, at 3,454 metres the highest railway station in Europe. You walk through the Ice Palace carved into the glacier, step out onto the Sphinx terrace for the long sweep of the Aletsch Glacier, and on clear days play in the snow on the Plateau. You return by train via Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen. Overnight in Interlaken.
- Eiger Express
- Jungfraujoch
- Ice Palace
- Sphinx Observation Terrace
- Aletsch Glacier
- Lauterbrunnen

- Note: At this height some people feel breathless or light-headed; walk slowly and drink water.
- Note: Seat reservations on the Jungfrau Railway are needed in peak season; we book them with your ticket.
Prafull’s tipWe check the summit webcam with you in the morning; on a cloudy day we can swap Titlis and the Jungfraujoch around.
Breakfast
Day 8Interlaken – Zurich Airport – Departure
About 150 km · 2–2.5 hours by train
Breakfast and a last look at the peaks from Interlaken, then you check out and take the train to Zurich airport, usually with one easy change at Bern, still on your Swiss Travel Pass. The line runs past Lake Thun and through the green farmland of the Swiss plateau. Zurich airport's station is directly beneath the terminal, so you wheel your bags straight up to check-in. Allow about three hours before an international flight, and keep your passport and boarding pass handy for the Schengen exit check. Your holiday ends here.
- Lake Thun from the train
- Note: We suggest a train that reaches the airport at least three hours before your flight.
Prafull’s tipSpend leftover francs on Swiss chocolate at the station shops; airport prices are higher.

Good to know
- You need a Schengen visa; apply through the Swiss consulate, as Switzerland is your longest stay (4 nights). Apply 6–8 weeks ahead; summer appointments in Mumbai fill fast.
- Watch for pickpockets in Paris, especially on the metro, at the Eiffel Tower and around the Louvre. Use a cross-body bag.
- Jungfraujoch (3,454 m) and Titlis (about 3,020 m) are high; walk slowly at the top, and check with your doctor if you have heart or breathing conditions.
- Pack light: one medium suitcase per person, as you'll lift bags on and off trains. Carry a warm jacket for the summits even in summer.
- Every main city has Indian restaurants; we list pure-veg and Jain options near each hotel in your notes.
- France uses the euro and Switzerland the Swiss franc; cards work almost everywhere. India is 3.5 hours ahead in summer. Carry a universal adaptor for French and Swiss sockets.
When to go
May to September. Long days and open mountain railways in summer. April and October are quieter and cheaper; December to March suits snow lovers in Switzerland.
