Itinerary (day wise)
A ten-night journey across Europe by train: three nights in Paris, three in Interlaken for the Jungfrau region, two in Venice and two in Rome. The route runs west to south-east so each train ride carries you onwards, from France through the Alps and down into Italy, and you fly home from Rome. It suits couples, families and repeat travellers who want three countries without rushing any of them.
Day 1Arrive in Paris (3 Nights)
About 30 km · 1 hour by road
Your driver meets you at Charles de Gaulle arrivals and drives you into the city to your hotel; check-in is usually from 3 pm, so you may have time for a coffee nearby first. In the evening you take a one-hour cruise on the Seine on a shared boat, gliding past Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay and the gilded bridges as the lights come on. If you're out after dark, watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle for five minutes at the start of every hour. Overnight in Paris.
- Seine river cruise
- Notre-Dame from the river
- Musée d'Orsay from the river
- Eiffel Tower sparkle

- Note: Hotel rooms in central Paris are compact; we choose hotels with lifts and ask for quieter rooms.
Prafull’s tipTake the cruise after sunset in summer, around 10 pm; in June it doesn't get dark much earlier.
No meals included today
Day 2Paris
A private half-day orientation tour with a driver-guide: the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde, the Opéra Garnier and the golden dome of Les Invalides, ending at the Eiffel Tower, where you go up to the second floor on a timed ticket. After lunch you spend the afternoon in the Louvre, entering through the glass pyramid on a timed ticket, for the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory. Finish with a stroll through the Tuileries Garden. Overnight in Paris.
- Arc de Triomphe
- Champs-Élysées
- Place de la Concorde

- Note: The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays; we plan your Paris days around it.
- Note: Optional: the Eiffel Tower summit, added to your ticket when available, approx. €10–15 extra per adult.
Prafull’s tipAt the Louvre, see the Mona Lisa first and then wander; the room is far quieter in the first hour.

Day 3Paris: Versailles and Montmartre
About 20 km each way · 30–45 minutes by road
Your car takes you out to the Palace of Versailles for a morning in the royal apartments and the Hall of Mirrors, entering on a timed ticket. Afterwards you walk out into the formal gardens, with their long canal, clipped hedges and fountains. You're back in Paris by early afternoon to rest. In the late afternoon you go up to Montmartre, the hilltop village where the white domes of Sacré-Cœur look out over the whole city, and the painters still set up their easels in Place du Tertre. Overnight in Paris.

- Sacré-Cœur Basilica
- Place du Tertre
- Note: The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays.
- Note: On fountain-show days in spring and summer, the gardens charge a separate entry, paid locally.
Prafull’s tipTake the funicular up Montmartre instead of the 200-odd steps; it saves your knees for Switzerland.
Breakfast
Day 4Paris – Interlaken (3 Nights)
About 650 km · 5–5.5 hours by fast train via Basel
Your driver takes you to the Gare de Lyon for the TGV Lyria to Basel, a smooth three hours through the French countryside. At Basel your Swiss Travel Pass begins, and a Swiss train carries you on via Bern and along Lake Thun into the Bernese Oberland, arriving at Interlaken by mid-afternoon. After check-in you walk along the Höheweg, where paragliders land on the Höhematte meadow with the snowy Jungfrau rising beyond. The evening is free to settle in. Overnight in Interlaken.

- Note: Large suitcases go on racks at the end of each carriage; keep valuables with you.

Day 5Interlaken: Jungfraujoch
About 2 hours each way by train and the Eiger Express gondola
Your big mountain day. A train takes you to Grindelwald Terminal, where the Eiger Express gondola lifts you below the Eiger's north face to Eigergletscher. From there the Jungfrau Railway tunnels through the rock to Jungfraujoch, at 3,454 metres the highest railway station in Europe. You walk through the Ice Palace carved into the glacier, step out onto the Sphinx terrace for the long sweep of the Aletsch Glacier, and on clear days play in the snow on the Plateau. You return by train via Kleine Scheidegg and Wengen. Overnight in Interlaken.

Prafull’s tipWe check the summit webcam with you each morning; if it's cloudy, we swap this day with tomorrow.
Breakfast
Day 6Interlaken: Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald
Short train rides of 20–40 minutes, plus the Grindelwald First gondola
A morning train takes you into the Lauterbrunnen valley, where sheer rock walls rise on both sides and dozens of waterfalls pour down, Staubbach Falls the most famous of them. A short bus ride up the valley brings you to Trümmelbach Falls, glacier water thundering through gorges inside the mountain, reached by a tunnel lift. After lunch you continue to Grindelwald and ride the gondola up to First, where the Cliff Walk clings to the rock face. Fit walkers can hike about an hour to the Bachalpsee lake. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 7Interlaken – Venice (2 Nights)
About 500 km · 6 hours by train via Milan
An early train takes you to Spiez and through the Lötschberg base tunnel to Brig, where you board a EuroCity train over the Simplon route into Italy, running beside Lake Maggiore down to Milan. A high-speed train then crosses the Po plain to Venice, arriving at Santa Lucia station on the Grand Canal. With your vaporetto pass you ride the water-bus down the canal, past palaces and under the Rialto Bridge, to your hotel. The evening is for getting gently lost in the lanes. Overnight in Venice.
- Lötschberg and Simplon railways
- Lake Maggiore from the train
- Grand Canal by vaporetto
- Rialto Bridge
- Note: Venice has no cars; the last stretch to most hotels is on foot over small bridges with steps. Optional: a water taxi to the hotel door, approx. €70–120 per boat.
- Note: Overnight guests are exempt from Venice's day-tripper access fee; the city tax is paid at the hotel.
Prafull’s tipTake Line 1, the slow vaporetto that stops at every landing, and try for an outside seat at the front or back.
Breakfast
Day 8Venice
A morning in and around St Mark's Square with a local guide. You visit St Mark's Basilica, glowing with gold mosaics, then the Doge's Palace, the seat of the Venetian Republic for centuries, crossing the Bridge of Sighs to the old prisons. After lunch you glide through the quieter back canals on a 30-minute gondola ride. The rest of the afternoon is free: the Rialto market and bridge, or a vaporetto across the lagoon to the glass-makers of Murano. Overnight in Venice.

Breakfast
Day 9Venice – Rome (2 Nights)
About 530 km · 4 hours by fast train
A vaporetto back up the Grand Canal to Santa Lucia, then a high-speed train south through Padua, Bologna and Florence to Roma Termini. Your driver meets you at the station and takes you to your hotel. In the early evening you walk to the Trevi Fountain, to toss a coin over your shoulder as tradition says, and on to the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon, the 2,000-year-old temple with its open dome. Rome's piazzas are at their best after dark. Overnight in Rome.
- Venice to Rome by high-speed train

After lunch you cross the river to Vatican City for the Vatican Museums, with their long galleries of maps and tapestries, the Raphael Rooms and Michelangelo's ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. Breakfast
Day 11Rome – Departure
About 30 km · 45 minutes by road
Breakfast and a last morning in Rome: a cappuccino in a piazza, a final gelato, or the view from the Pincio terrace above Piazza del Popolo. Check-out is usually by noon, and the hotel holds your bags if your flight is later. Your driver collects you about three and a half hours before departure for the drive out to Fiumicino airport, where check-in and passport control can be slow in summer. If time allows, stop for a last look at the Colosseum on the way out of the city. Your holiday ends here.
- Piazza del Popolo
- Pincio terrace
- Note: Claim any VAT refund on shopping at Fiumicino before you check in your bags.
Prafull’s tipKeep your tax-free shopping forms and receipts together; the refund desk wants to see the goods.

Good to know
- You need a Schengen visa; apply through the Italian consulate, as Italy is your longest stay (4 nights in Venice and Rome). Apply 6–8 weeks ahead; summer appointments in Mumbai fill fast.
- Jungfraujoch (3,454 m) is high; walk slowly at the top, and check with your doctor if you have heart or breathing conditions.
- Pack light: one medium suitcase per person. You lift bags on and off five trains, and Venice means carrying them over bridges with steps.
- Watch for pickpockets in Paris, at Roma Termini and around Rome's big sights. Use a cross-body bag and keep passports in the hotel safe.
- Every main city has Indian restaurants; Italy is easy for vegetarians, with pizza, pasta and risotto everywhere. We list pure-veg and Jain options in your notes.
- France and Italy use the euro, Switzerland the Swiss franc; cards work almost everywhere. India is 3.5 hours ahead in summer. Carry a universal adaptor.
When to go
May to September. Long days and open mountain railways in summer. April and October are quieter and cheaper; December to March suits snow lovers in Switzerland.
